Hello RandomAccountName.

Let us try to find the root cause for the problem - therefore let me ask you some questions:

How do you start the example application on the Raspberry Pi? Are you logged in local on the Raspberry Pi and using a keyboard - or do you have a SSH connection?

Do you get some output on the console?

Are you using the Raspbian Jessie Lite Image (original)?

Please try to answer the questions - otherwise there is no chance to make some progress.

Best regards

Manfred.

I start the application using the terminal on raspberry pi with a keyboard.

Not sure what the output on the console question is sorry.

No, I don't think I'm using Raspbian Jessie Lite Image

Are you using a SSH connection to the RasPi in order to compile the application?

If yes, this is the console window where you get output messages from the application and this is the console window where you can start the application and where you can press 'P' to quit the application.

Please have a look to the section Compiling, Linking and Executing of the Getting Started article.

I was having issues so I put on a USB memory stick and created EmWiApplication on my pi

Now things become more clear...

Is it possible to establish the SSH connection and to make the bring-up as described? This is a proven way and it will make it more easier for you when you will try other samples or when you want ot create your own GUI application.

The SSH connection doesn't seem to be possible for us.

Hello,

as already mentioned above, it will be much easier for you if you follow the described approach. I assume that you are just starting GUI development - so there are a lot of things to get familiar with. If you go your own ways to early and do not follow the recommended 'getting-started' approach you bring an additional complexity into your project and you are creating unnecessary problems.

If you are expert for RasPi and Linux, you can of course go your own ways and adapt the main.c file and the makefiles according your needs.

Additioinal remark: It does not make much sense to post your questions or comments several times into this forum.

Best regards,

Manfred.
