Can we use external serial ram instead of the SDRAM for the STM32F746?

Hello,

I assume that the serial ram is not directly accessible from CPU, DMA2D and LTDC. In this case you cannot use it, because it is not within the address space of the MCU. However, if the RAM can be accessed directly, then it should be possible. Please take care that the memory bandwidth is sufficient, e.g. to put a framebuffer within this RAM.

Best regards,

Manfred.
