Hi,

Do you know whether it's possible to run EW Studio under VMWare Fusion on Apple Silicon? VMWare now supports Windows11/ARM but not sure whether an ARM version of the app that you run are required?

Hello Robert,

That's an interesting question that we haven't been able to examine till now. From technical point of view, EW is an x86 application - it requires Windows for Intel CPU. Apple Silicon, in turn, does not allow running x86 Windows. Installing Windows 11 for ARM on Apple silicon should be possible, however, I have never tested it.

According to what I read Windows 11 for ARM also includes an x86 emulation. I deduce from this that it should be able to run an old x86 application. But again, I have not tested this configuration. Following is Microsoft documentation I found here:

I'm sorry that I can't provide you any further concrete setup details.

Thanks Paul. Is this something you think you'll be able to test at some point? It looks like all of the new product from Apple will be ARM so would be great if this were possible. Thanks!

Hello Robert,

yes, we will validate the configuration in future. Currently, however, we have no possibility to do this. If possible, I would recommend you to try the configuration yourself.

Best regards
